The city of Mount Gambier has its fair share of crime, but murder is rare. The changes when a disgraced businessman is found dead at the bottom of the city’s famous Cave Gardens sinkhole. Suspects are plentiful, among them the Mayor. Shortly after, a drug-affected high school student is killed during a psychotic episode. Then, at the Annual Agricultural Show, the retiring president of the Country Women’s Association is retired permanently.

Mike Pitt (The Troublemaker) and his wife Julie (The Return of the Troublemaker) are heavily involved in the investigations. So is the city’s newest detective-sergeant, the beautiful Grace Chalmers, who has issues of her own, mainly with her boss.
